Elim Church
In Northeast Minneapolis

An oasis in the city

about us

Elim Church, located on the north side of Logan Park, has been a member of Northeast Minneapolis for almost 120 years.  While we celebrate our historic roots, our ongoing goal is to share God’s love in fresh, relevant and meaningful ways.  We love the incredible diversity pulsating in our neighborhood, the city’s ever-changing landscape, and the challenge and richness of serving the increasingly complex world at our doorstep.  We also mourn the city’s pain, and seek to build bridges of healing, renewal, and hope.

Our stained glass windows portray images of palm trees, green vegetation, and abundant water – an oasis in the desert.  While Minnesota’s climate could hardly be described as a desert, we look around and see that people nonetheless experience a deep thirst and longing not fully satisfied by their jobs, families, hobbies, money or possessions.  We all need a place to satisfy this soul-thirst, a place where it is safe to be a spiritual sojourner, a place to grow, connect, and serve.  Elim Church seeks to be such a place, an oasis in which everyone can find refreshment for the soul.

Elim Church welcomes all people.  Young and old, rich and poor, able-bodied and physically challenged – we believe ALL people offer a unique human life to be celebrated and shared.  We desire to live in authentic community, supporting and valuing one another, and spurring each other on to transforming growth and personal involvement in our community.

Elim was founded in 1888 and is affiliated with the Baptist General Conference and the Minnesota Baptist Conference.  Elim is also a supporting church of Ham Lake Baptist Retreat Center and Camp.

about us

“(We first came to Elim) in 1994.  Although we moved out of the neighborhood, we never went anywhere else after that because we felt like we had found our home.”
